One of the Kind

My own jewelry brand, where every piece is handmade once and never recreated. I built the brand, the sourcing, and the system that keeps it all in order.

The materials lead, and I follow

I make every piece myself, from stones and metals I’ve researched and sourced for quality and longevity. When a piece is finished, it’s retired for good. No second run, no copies.

A mark with a meaning

I wrote a full brand style guide, from the logo and its rules to a color palette named after the stones I work with.

O
For “One.” Motif: a phase of the moon.
O
For “Of.” Motif: a second phase of the moon, stacked above the first.
T
For “The.” Motif: joined to the O to form an ankh, the Egyptian symbol for rebirth.
K
For “Kind.” Motif: mirrored on itself, for duality and balance.

The challenge

Every piece is made by hand, exactly once, and never recreated. Keeping that promise meant four things had to be true.

  • No templatesEvery design starts from scratch, so nothing can be copied from a pattern.
  • Every part trackedEach stone, bead, and finding is logged on its own.
  • A true costEvery piece needs its real cost before it can be priced.
  • Built to lastI research every supplier and only use metals and stones I trust.

The system

I designed an Airtable base that follows every material from the day it arrives to the day it becomes a finished piece.

Every material gets a record

Every material gets a record in the Materials table the day it arrives, so I always know what I have and what it cost me.

  • 598 materials, sorted by stone, shape, size, and color
  • Unit price worked out from what I paid and how many came in
  • Allergy notes saved for each metal and finding

Track and make

Stock that counts itself down

A linking table records exactly how much of each material goes into each piece, and each piece starts as a work in progress with its materials, hours, and reference photos in one place.

  • Every bead linked to the piece it went into
  • Quantity remaining updates on its own
  • Hours logged for every piece

Price

Prices grounded in real numbers

When a piece is finished, the base works out what it truly cost, so every price is grounded in real numbers.

  • Labor cost from hours spent
  • Total cost of materials plus labor
  • Profit and margin for every piece
Finished pieces, each one made exactly once.
“I begin without knowing the ending. The materials lead, I listen.”
